Oku-sama wa Mahou Shoujo 5

July 31st, 2005 by Gunlex

The key part of this episode has to be seeing an older version of Sayaka. Although I don’t think the pigtails really suit her, it was a nice change. Now if only she’d stay in that form for the rest of the series. (*´д`*) The story is still moving pretty slowly. It’ll probably end up like those other 12-13 episode series where they try to get the main plot all wrapped up in 3 episodes. Whether that will be a good or bad thing, that all depends on how they present it. This wasn’t the best episode thus far, but it was still quite enjoyable.

Eureka 7 16

July 31st, 2005 by Gunlex

There are a few tripped out scenes in this episode. It doesn’t really feel like we’re getting any closer to answering some of the big questions in the series. Renton seems to have some sort of special connection with Anemone and Eureka, but there’s no hint of what it is. This episode doesn’t answer any of the questions surrounding Eureka, but instead it adds a few more. I do hope they answer some of them soon cause the list of questions is getting pretty long.

Tsubasa Chronicle 17

This episode caught me by surprise. I wasn’t expecting something like this from what we’ve been getting for the last few months. This was probably my favourite episode since the first one. We get to see Sakura in a maid outfit, which was quite nice. Chances are we’ll get to see more of her in that outfit in the next episode. The person showing Syaoran and crew the ropes of this world looks like Blanche from Angelic Layer. There’s a crucial development this week (possibly). Whether or not they will make use of this development in future episodes or not, I haven’t the slighest idea. Apparently Syaoran can’t see out of his right eye. I think it makes him a more likeable character. Even with a handicap he’s still determined to help Sakura without hesitation. At the end of the episode we also get to see Inuki, Yuzuriha, and Kusanagi from X TV. Hopefully they can keep this level of entertainment value for the rest of the episodes.

Gundam SEED Destiny 41

No screencaps this week. This was pretty much another recap episode. All the footage used in this episode was old. We also got some scenes from the first season of GS. Sure we get to hear Athrun and Kira’s thoughts about the whole situation, but it still doesn’t take away from the fact that it is another “cheesy clip show”. The only good thing about this episode was seeing Kira making quick work out of Zaft again. Oh, and the preview for episode 42.

Honey and Clover 15

We got another Mayama episode this week. Just like last week this was another good episode. I thought the scene where Hanamoto-sensei was telling Mayama to let Ayu be was hilarious. When Mayama reminisces about Rika we get to see what happened after he helped her out of the shower. It was pretty unexpected. After all this time he still refuses to give up on Rika and willingly starts from scratch. Ayu’s feelings for Mayama are just as strong as ever in this episode, if not more. From what we’ve seen in these past few weeks, it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing Morita for another while.

Ichigo Mashimaro 3

Just leave it up to Miu to make this into a humour-filled episode. I liked every scene she was in in this episode. From the criminal make-believe game in the beginning to asking Chika to pat her back in the end. It was pretty funny to see Ana trying to deny not being able to speak English. “Two sen-yen” Now that Nobue and possibly Chika and Miu realize the extent of Ana’s English capabilities, I wonder if they’ll play into that in the next episode.

Gokujou Seitokai 17

Lots of Engrish in this episode. It was well worth reading the letter from Cyndi’s mother. “Solly”. Her mother’s Japanese was hilarious as well. “食えるか!”. I thought there were a lot of good scenes in this episode. Seeing them all trying to make Cyndi’s lies a reality was pretty funny. It was nice to see Kuon in a maid outfit, unfortunately those scenes were limited. The conversation between Rein and Sayuri during the hula dance was gold, especially the arrow pointing to the source of Rein’s complaint. I thoroughly enjoyed the humour in this episode.

Suzuka 4

July 27th, 2005 by Gunlex

I don’t know what that Hattori guy has planned. He didn’t seem to do anything that would hurt Yamato’s chance with Suzuka. There’s a couple of things that come up with Suzuka in this episode. It seems like she may still have feelings for the guy in the photo. She may also be starting to feel something for Yamato but is either confused about her feelings or afraid of it. There’s still a long way to go for this series so chances are we won’t see them get together till quite a while later.

Full Metal Panic! TSR 3

Wow, this episode was really exciting in my opinion. We get to see Mithril cross paths with Gate in this episode. The way they carried out the mission was really cool. Especially how it was all strategically planned out. I thought how things started to turn for the worst was nicely done. I couldn’t help but wonder, “Oh shit, what’re they going to do now?” With Mao, Weber, and Sousuke all in trouble, I can’t wait to see the next episode.

Naruto 145

I’m personally getting tired of watching the Iruka vs Mizuki fight. Iruka is just too weak to make the fight any fun to watch. The only parts I enjoyed in this episode were
the scenes with Shikamaru, Ino, and Chouji. We get to see Ino and Chouji’s new abilities. Although I didn’t think they’re as intense as Shikamaru’s “Kagekubishibari no Jutsu” it was still more fun seeing that than Iruka’s fight. All we see Naruto do is run after Iruka and Mizuki, kind of like what he did for most of the recent Sasuke arc.
