Gun x Sword 13

September 26th, 2005 by Gunlex

This episode marks the end of the first half of the series. Van catches a glimpse of the clawed-man which reaffirms his goal. Gadovedo mentions Van isn’t using Dann to its full potential. It makes me wonder when we’ll get to see Van learn how to use it properly. Wendy ends up travelling with Van once again. It appears Carmen99 will go with them as well. We’re back to what looks like another filler episode next week.

Oku-sama wa Mahou Shoujo 13 (Final)

Since this was the last episode I wish they didn’t cut corners. During Ureshiko’s transformation sequence you can still see that she has her ring even though she clearly is not supposed to have it. Another possible inconsistency I noticed was when Tatsumi and Ureshiko kissed her powers didn’t disappear on the spot. Maybe the effect takes some time to kick in, I just always assumed the effect was almost instantaneous. Other than that, I enjoyed watching the final episode. The outcome of it all was highly predictable. I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing in this case. It’s pretty much the only ending that could have happened if it was to end on a happy note.

The premise of the story was pretty interesting in my opinion. The main characters were fairly well-developed in the span of 13 episodes. This isn’t something that will keep you on the edge of your seat. On the other hand, this is a good series to watch when you just want to sit back, relax, and not waste your time. Although the animation quality isn’t consistent throughout the entires series, overall it’s pretty decent. I personally liked the character designs for the series. My final verdict, this is a series that is worth checking out for its unique story and the characters.

Eureka 7 23

This was a pretty heavy episode. I was surprised to see them deal with racism. With today’s fear and obsession over terrorism and its consequences, this episode fit in nicely. This episode lets anyone who may be prejudiced towards a certain group think twice about their flawed beliefs. On a lighter note, it looks like some crew members now believe Eureka has feelings for Renton. Of course we would like to think that as well, but logically speaking Eureka asking what love could have been just an innocent question. It took the entire episode, but Holland finally told Eureka about Renton leaving. Eureka openly says she wants to meet Renton. One can take it as a hint that maybe Eureka does like Renton.

Ichigo Mashimaro 9

I didn’t think this episode was as funny as the other ones. One reason is the lack of funny Miu lines. It was still fun to watch nevertheless. Some key parts in the dieting part of the episode were changed from the manga. Overall I think the changes made this episode’s transition smoother than it would have been if they had stuck more closely to the manga.

Gundam SEED Destiny 49

The beginning of the end. I thought there were lots of good parts in this episode. First off, I liked how they equipped Justice and Freedom with METEOR again purely for nostalgia. Then of course there’s Yzak and Dearka joining sides with Kira and Athrun. Although we didn’t get to see much of that, I’m hoping in the last episode there will be more scenes with them. The other big thing in this episode was Mwu regaining his memories back. I’m actually surprised Akatsuki took no damage from that blast. The other thing that surprised me was Akatsuki’s Fin Funnels. I totally wasn’t expecting it to pull a Nu Gundam with the Fin Funnel shielding. Just one more episode to go before we can hopefully see Shinn die.

Tsubasa Chronicle 23

We find out what Seishiro’s motive for coming to this world is. There’s also another flashback where we see how Syaoran met Seishiro. One thing I don’t remember seeing in the manga was Mokona getting ready to defend Sakura from Seishiro. From watching this episode you can get an idea about the truth of this world.

Speed Grapher 22

After watching this episode, I can’t blame Suitengu for what he wants to do. You can’t help but sympathize with him. Getting sold and thrown into a war was bad enough, but having to see his sister in that state? That would have been too much for anyone. Even though he doesn’t really seem like the “bad guy” anymore, he’s still going to have to die in the end for Kagura to return to Saiga.

Honey and Clover 23

I guess it’s a bit late to hope for a Mayama and Yamada episode. They could easily extend the series for another season if they spent that time on that part of the story. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like that will happen so we’ll have to make due with what we have. I don’t dislike Takemoto’s story at all, it’s just that I would have liked to see them spend more time on Mayama and Yamada’s story. Hagu seems the most troubled because of Takemoto’s absence. I’m excited to see how this will all play out. With the next episode being the last one, I hope they will be able to provide a satisfying ending.

Gokujou Seitokai 25

They pulled out all the stops in this episode. We pretty much see every character we’ve seen up to this point in the series. I thought the scene with the landlord kicking ass was pretty funny. There’s a decent amount of new information in this episode as well. It turns out that Seina and Minamo are Jinguji people as well. They were forced to change their surnames due to not having any powers. We also find out what Kanade’s power is. Rino’s power also awakens in this episode. Apparently Rino’s power is stronger than Kanade’s, proven by her ability to draw people to her. The time has finally come, we’re down to one more episode.

Suzuka 12

The long awaited swimsuit episode! I have to say I’m kind of disappointed in the fact that the pool scene was so short. The majority of the episode was pretty much just mediocre. Luckily I felt that the final scene in this episode made up for the rest of it. I thought Yamato would have been his usual self and blurted out something really stupid that would make things worse. I was surprised to see him act cool instead. We now have decent evidence that Suzuka likes Yamato. All she’s missing now is the ability to accept her feelings for him. It looks like Honoka will confess before Suzuka will, so it should be interesting to see what happens.
