ARIA 9

November 30th, 2005 by Gunlex

We get to see a completely different part of Aqua in this episode. Arika, Aika, and Alice travel to the countryside to meet “Grandmother”. As it turns out “Grandmother”, the founder of Aria Company, has a personality similar to Alicia’s. The episode itself was fun to watch. Arika, Aika, and Alicem make a great combination. Some of the lines made certain scenes hilarious.

Shakugan no SHANA 9

This is the first filler episode of the series. It’s definately a nice break from the end of the first part of the series. There were a few scenes which I thought were pretty funny. For instance, the scene where they come out showing their swimsuits one at a time was hilarious. Seeing Shana show what definately looks like jealousy was quite entertaining. If future filler episodes will be this fun to watch I wouldn’t mind more of them.

Suzuka 22

It took 22 episodes, but Yamato finally has his head on straight. Yamato is now determined to become #1 in Japan. With only 4 episodes left, I’m not sure how much progress we’ll end up seeing. He believes he is losing to Kazuki in every way so he comes up with the idea of becoming #1. With Suzuka’s personality, it’s no surprise she doesn’t show Yamato any signs of her feelings for him. I think a probable scenario is Suzuka ending up with Yamato in episode 26 with her supporting Yamato’s goal to reach #1 where the series will end.

Jigoku Shoujo 9

Attack of the cakes! What can I say, we’ve already seen this premise before. Of course there’s also what we can call the “main plot” of the series. We have someone trying to unravel the mystery behind Ai and her “service”. Then we have a girl who is somehow connected to Ai. Personally I would rather have them focus the entire episode on the main plot than give us more of these “one-shot” stories. The subplot wasn’t bad, it’s just nothing we haven’t seen before. They will probably devote entire episodes to the main plot later in the series, but for the time being I think this sort of episode will be the trend we see for a while.

Bleach Notice

This is just a reminder to you readers out there that Bleach did not air this week. Check back tomorrow for reviews on ARIA, Shakugan no SHANA, Suzuka, and Jigoku Shoujo.

Gun x Sword 22

Well this episode was quite interesting. As it turns out practically nobody knew what or where “space” is. Then it only takes them a week to learn how to launch DANN into space. That scene brought up nightmares from the worst movie, “Battlefield Earth”. Besides how silly I thought that scene was there was one scene I particularly liked. When Pricilla asked Van what a virgin was, the reaction from Van was pretty hilarious. They ended the episode with Michael encountering something unexpected from the other side of the moon.

Eureka 7 32

I was pretty much blown away by this episode. This is easily one of the top 3 episodes of the series so far. The edge-of-your-seat suspense when Axel Thurston was escaping with the board was pretty intense. They top that scene by pitting together typetheEND and the newly upgraded typeZERO (irregular spelling taken from the official website). The way they put in “Days” into that scene was just awesome. I definately like the new typeZERO, except I still wish it had a different colour scheme. I don’t expect the next episode to have the same level of intensity, but chances are it will still be fun to watch.

Ginban Kaleidoscope 8

This week we get to see just how much the mass media dislikes Tazusa. But now that the scandal involving the mass media has been resolved it will probably be a while before we hear their disrespectful comments again. This was the first time we got to hear about Tazusa’s family. I’m not sure if it’ll be an issue that will come up again later on. For the time being Tazusa managed to secure her ticket as the Japanese representative for the Olympics.

Lyrical Nanoha A’s 9

November 26th, 2005 by Gunlex

The Book of Darkness has finally been completed. Nanoha does mention that isn’t the real name of the book. Maybe once we know the real name of the book things will be more clear. For now, we’re thrown into a twist in the plot. Now there are two identical masked-figures who steals the book from Shamal. With the unfortunate turn of events Hayate uses the newly completed book. A lot happened in the last half of the episode so we don’t really know what’s happening just yet.

Blood+ 8

Compared to the other episodes thus far, this was probably the slowest one yet. Of course, it’s not necessarily a bad thing. We’re now in a completely new setting so it was nice to take things at a slower pace. We meet Saya’s roommate, Ming, in this episode. At the moment it doesn’t seem like she will play much of a long-term role in the series. Saya has changed. She’s now taking initiative to help with their mission. We end the episode with Hagi and Saya engaged in combat with a yokushu. Based on next week’s preview it seems like it’ll be more focused on Riku and Kai’s search for Saya.
