SoltyRei 8

November 24th, 2005 by Gunlex

In the very beginning we get a narration by Rose. Then the eldest Anderson brother says they’re known as the “Nakayoshi Anderson Brothers”. Coming from him and his cool attitude it turned out quite funny. Rose is still trying to recruit Solty. This episode is primarly about Rose. We get a brief glimpse of her past and get an idea of why she became a “thief”. In my opinion the overall story is moving pretty slowly. For the time being I don’t really mind it because I’m enjoying what they have been offering. Although it would be nice to get more plot development in the next couple of episodes.

My-Otome 8

November 24th, 2005 by Gunlex

Through Arica and her friends entering the chamber underneath the acamedy we learn about the Otome’s from 50 years ago. As it turns out, Miu is Arica’s aquaintance. She doesn’t seem to be “evil” like she was in the majority of “Mai-HiME”. With the incident in the previous episode, it has caused quite a commotion among the leaders of the other countries. The masked-figures are about to make a move as well. We end the episode with more questions than we started it with. I like the direction the series is headed in, it keeps the excitement level up high.

Suzuka 21

November 23rd, 2005 by Gunlex

I was thinking Miki may have made a move this episode. At first I thought most of the episode would involve mainly Miki and Yamato. Since she didn’t do anything about she supposedly feels about Yamato it probably won’t come up again. At least I don’t think it should at this point in the series. If they do add it into a future episode, the most it will come to is Miki confessing to Yamato and Yamato rejecting her after he tells her how he feels about Suzuka. Now that Yamato realizes he still likes Suzuka, all that’s left is for Yamato to confess to her once again.

Shakugan no SHANA 8

November 23rd, 2005 by Gunlex

This episode went by pretty quickly for me. I guess it just means I enjoyed it a fair bit. Just by having Yuuji around, Shana is a lot more powerful than we’ve ever seen her. Whether or not it’s because of a currently unknown reason or something cheesy like love is still up in the air. Margery was completely defeated by Shana so she probably won’t cause anymore trouble for her. My guess is she will end up helping Shana at some point in the series. I personally liked Margery’s last scene in this episode. You don’t see her eyes but you see tears get blown into the wind, I thought that was nicely done.

ARIA 8

November 23rd, 2005 by Gunlex

This week we get two short stories instead of one full episode. Another twist is this episode is all about President Aria. I didn’t think this was anywhere as entertaining as the previous episodes. Some of the caption tries to be humourous, but I didn’t find them particularly funny. In one of the scenes you see a girl with a frog puppet. No matter how you look at it, it’s obvious it is supposed to be Keroro from “Keroro Gunsou”. I thought that was quite unexpected. Overall the episode is pretty mediocre.

Jigoku Shoujo 8

November 23rd, 2005 by Gunlex

It may have finally begun. We may be on the verge on actual character development. We get the usual progression of a story, but what’s different about this week’s episode is a separate story gets intertwined into it. It appears a new girl we meet has some sort of connection with Ai. It’s still too early to speculate exactly what is going on. It would have been nice if they had started a continuous story earlier in the series, but like they say , better late than never.

Bleach 59

November 22nd, 2005 by Gunlex

I didn’t expect the Ichigo and Byakuya fight to end so early. I thought it would have lasted at least another episode. Either way it was still pretty good. Currently we still don’t know anything about the Hollow instead Ichigo. It’s basically a sign that the series will still go on for quite a while. I honestly think at their current pace they will catch up to the manga, so be prepared for original filler episodes. “Bleach” is taking a break next week. Expect good episodes all the way through until they finish this entire arc.

Gun x Sword 21

November 21st, 2005 by Gunlex

Things are now moving along nicely. Michael is headed towards the moon, but we don’t know exactly how that plays into the clawed-man’s plans. The series would have ended at this episode if it wasn’t for Eldora V trying to “save” Van. Fasalina is what I call a “hentai-yarou”. Well I guess some people are into that whole sadism stuff. Anyways, since she got away it’s most likely she’s going to cause more trouble for Van later on.

Eureka 7 31

November 20th, 2005 by Gunlex

The events in this episode took me by surprise. I would have expected something of this calibur towards the end of the series, but we’re still far from the finale. We get a couple of questions answered, but due to the turn of events we have new questions to answer now. It looks like Nirvash will be upgraded, but it’s too bad it has the same colour scheme as before. A couple of new characters are introduced in this episode. The creepy kids we meet will probably play a fairly large role in the episodes to come.

Ginban Kaleidoscope 7

So we get to see Tazusa’s new program in this episode. Honestly I can’t say I liked all the “extra” animation they put in. The scenes with the “waitressing as skating” ruined it for me. Anyways, Tazusa gets selected as an Olympic competitor so we’ll probably see the other top world skaters in the near future. They included a “skating tutorial” at the end of the episode. I think that was a good idea since it explains what a specific technique refers to.
