My-Otome 12

December 22nd, 2005 by Gunlex

So Takumi’s identity is revealed in this episode. We also learn his true reason for visiting. It looks like we may see Mai within the next few episodes. I do hope they eventually show a bit of the past between Natsuki and Mai. It’ll probably just make Mai’s relationship with Natsuki that much more meaningful. We’re almost half-way into the series and we haven’t really even started the main plot of the series. We got an incident here and there up until now, but nothing to really connect it all yet. Just like many other series, “My-Otome” will be taking a one week break.

ARIA 12

Although it’s completely illogical for Akari to be able to “walk into the past”, it’s best not to question how it’s realistically possible. If you can overlook that minor aspect I think this episode is highly enjoyable. We get to see what Aqua was like in the past before the inhabitants had easy access to water. I really liked farewell scene towards the end when Akiko realizes Akari isn’t from her time. At the end we understand the significance of the cats living on the bridge. It may not be a suitable answer to Akari entering a pervious era in terms of logic, but it was just good story-telling.

Shakugan no SHANA 12

I assumed that Ike liked Kazumi based on his actions from previous episodes. After this episode it seems like that really is the case. Kazumi on the other hand still likes Yuuji and tells Shana that she is going to confess to him. This is the first time we get to hear from Shana how she really feels about Yuuji. Although she didn’t get to say “love” before she gets interrupted, taking into account her other lines and body language there’s no denying her feelings for Yuuji. We also get a taste of what Sorato and Tyriel are capable of. They end up capturing Shana with ease. I’m looking forward to the next episode, but unfortunately the series is taking a one week break. The next episode will air on January 4th.

Suzuka 25

I liked how they showed Suzuka’s past before, during, and after Kazuki’s funeral. That scene along with her feelings about the whole situation rationalizes her actions in my opinion. I thought that the scene between Honoka and Suzuka would have helped Suzuka view things differently, but at the moment it seems to have had no effect. Yamato manages to find Suzuka towards the end of the episode. Not surprisingly we’re left with what seems to be even more trouble than before.

Jigoku Shoujo 12

I thought this episode was good purely because it was unlike any of the episodes we’ve seen so far. It’s the first time the victim asked to be sent to Hell. In the beginning of the episode we already see a girl with the mark from the curse so the rest of the episode was basically one long flashback. It looks like Ai was starting to question the whole situation, but her grandmother reassured her it was okay. We may get more information on Ai in the next episode. The preview makes it look pretty promising.

Bleach 62

It took a few months, but we finally got to the climax of this arc. Seeing most of the captains and vice-captains show up to stop Aizen was probably the highlight of the episode for me. We get to hear from Byakuya the truth about why he took Rukia in and made her his younger sister. It wasn’t something that would affect the entire series, but it was just a little extra flavour to top off the episode. Even though the climax of the arc is already over with, the next episode should still be entertaining if they stick close to the manga. Bleach is taking a 2 week break and returning with a one-hour special on January 10th.

Gun x Sword 25

December 19th, 2005 by Gunlex

Near the beginning of this episode we get to see Joshua become furious for the first time. It was so unlike him that it looked almost comical. I wasn’t expecting to see Van show up until the end of the episode but we see him return around the half-way point. His final confrontation with Michael was pretty short, but I thought it was a cool scene. I didn’t think we would get to see Eldora V and Pricilla back in action. Seeing Carlos speak all of a sudden and showing his disappointment in the other guys was quite hilarious. The episode ends with Wendy pointing her gun at Michael. She has definately changed over the course of the series.

Eureka 7 35

I thought it was a little unexpected, but as it turns out Dewey is Holland’s older brother. Talho used to be with Dewey as well, which I thought was kind of surprising. The person who leaked information to Talho was caught and looked to be in pretty bad shape. I don’t think we’ll be seeing him anymore. They have been pretty good at providing entertaining episodes for a while now, so I have some confidence that the next episode will follow the same trend. Although I definately would’nt mind seeing more encounters between Anemone and Eureka.

Ginban Kaleidoscope 11

This is the first episode of the Olympics. I’m sure the seiyuu’s tried their best to speak English, but I found it difficult to understand them. I ended up depending on the Japanese subtitles to figure out what they were saying. I thought it was kind of unfortunate we don’t really get to see the performance of the other top skaters. I guess with the little time they have left in the series they couldn’t afford to do that. Pete’s time is almost up, but we still have one episode to go.

Lyrical Nanoha A’s 12

This was a bit unexpected. I didn’t think we would see Hayate do much in terms of fighting. It was nice to see all of them back though. This was pretty much as action-packed as it could get. Everything looked like it was over until we see Hayate collapse. So now we’re left with Hayate struggling for her life. For this kind of show it’s highly unlikely she won’t make it. I’m not expecting any intense action for the last episode, but regardless it should be a nice end to the second season.
