Shakugan no SHANA 24 (Final)

I was all set on not expecting too much from the last episode. I was extremely happy to see that this episode was a lot better than I had anticipated. It was a lot of fun to watch in my opinion. It’s not the ideal ending by any means, but I’m satisfied with the ending. I will elaborate on why this seemingly incomplete ending made me content in a bit. One minor disappointment was I thought there wasn’t enough Vilhelmina in this episode. Although now that I think about it there would never have been enough Vilhelmina. Possibly one of my favourite scenes in this episode was when Shana prepared to sacrifice herself and Yuji calmly goes with her. I would have been perfectly happy with an ending where Yuji and Shana disappear completely after that scene. As I mentioned a while ago I was happy with the ending even though there were still many unresolved issues. Hecate and the others were able to escape in time so Shana wasn’t able to stop them for good. It just means things are still left open for a second season. I have not heard any news of a second season, but we do see at the very end that a movie is in the works. It seems unlikely a movie will be able to wrap everything up so I’m hoping for a second season.
After finishing all 24 episodes I feel that this was a pretty unique series. The story and concepts used were pretty uncommon as far as your regular anime series goes. The art for the series is very nicely done as well in my opinion. To complement the art they used good seiyuus. The amount of filler episodes were kept to a minimum which is a good thing for this series. There really isn’t a whole lot of complaints I have about this series. I would have liked to see a few characters better developed, but overall it wasn’t too bad. In retrospect, I liked how this series was focused more on the story and relationships rather than on the fighting. This series may not be for everyone, but if you want a unique story with interesting characters and a little action on the side then “Shakugan no SHANA” is for you. Taking everything into account, I thought this was a pretty solid series.
