Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch 11

December 21st, 2006 by Gunlex

Without “DEATH NOTE” this week I had nothing but this series to count on to provide a spectacular episode. I had very high expectations for this episode and it delivered it almost flawlessly. Many of the events in this episode took me by surprise. We can begin to speculate about Suzaku’s past based on the new information from this episode. So many things happened in this episode that it takes some time to take it all in. With so much excitement even before the halfway mark of the series, it’s hard to imagine it getting much more intense than it already is. I There must be a very important clue to who C.C. really is considering they have yet to reveal her real name to us. I’m very eager to find out what it is so I can figure out how everything is related.

The events in this episode make it seem like the series is already nearing the end. Some things I didn’t expect to occur until later in the series. Without a doubt, this will greatly impact the relationships between most of the characters. Nevertheless, I think it’s a good opportunity to develop the more minor characters of the series. I’m glad that things are moving quickly though. It keeps things a lot more interesting for this kind of series. This is one of the few times where I’m quite looking forward to the next episode. I’m also quite curious to find out the names of the other villains to come. I expect them to be just as cheesy as “Moon Face” or “Captain Bravo”.

This case seems to be more sad than scary. At the moment it doesn’t really set the mood for the season, but I guess it doesn’t matter as long as it’s an enjoyable episode. I thought it was quite entertaining to see Rin get put in such an awkward situation when taking his character into account. Since we are near the half way point of the series, I’m beginning to want more character development than before. Much about Kazuya still remains a mystery so hopefully some new information will be provided soon. This file is only two episodes long so we’ll get to see the conclusion in the next episode. Most likely it will have a happy ending, but regardless it should be interesting to watch either way.

D.Gray-man 12

This is the final episode in the Miranda arc. It followed the manga for the most part from what I could remember. If you have enjoyed this arc thus far then it’s almost guaranteed you will like the conclusion as well. The action sequences weren’t all that great, but it was the story and character development that made this episode entertaining. With everything that had happened to Miranda these last few episodes, the content of her letter to Allen shouldn’t be much of a surprise to anyone. This episode also marks the first appearance of Lavi. Just like Kanda’s case, I was expecting a different voice for the character. I think it will just take another episode or two for me to get accustomed to Lavi’s voice.

For the most part this felt like a fairly ordinary episode, albeit a bit disturbing when Shizuko opened the bag. Things turned out to be a bizarre misunderstanding, which I wasn’t really expecting. In a way it ended up kind of sad for both parties once we figured everything out. I guess I should have expected some sort of twist towards the end. It wouldn’t be like them to make the story so straightforward and obvious. All in all, I thought it was an average episode in terms of entertainment value relative to the other episodes this season. We’re almost half way into the series and we really aren’t much further than the first episode in terms of the
underlying plot of the series. If they don’t start relatively soon I don’t know if I can expect a well thought out story.

Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch 10

Lelouch has finally started to amass a force to fight against Britannia. I thought Kallen’s new unit had some pretty neat abilities. It definitely reminds me of another mech, but I can’t seem to pinpoint it at the moment. Although it was brief, we get a better look at Cornelia’s piloting skills. Needless to say, she probably won’t be an easy opponent. There were no glaring problems with this episode so it’s pure entertainment from start to finish yet again. The series has been dropping hints here and there regarding a possible event that may occur later in the series. At the moment it’s just pure speculation. If it does happen though, it will definitely make the series much more interesting. With 25 episodes in all I think anything is possible at this point. Either way I have high hopes for the rest of this series.

I thought this episode turned out better than I had anticipated. They spent a fair amount of time on the Hayasaka twins’ past. At first I thought I understood the situation since it’s a common theme; a single mother trying to raise to children while working long hours. When we found out the details about their mother however, I admit I was surprised by the truth. It seems highly likely that they will make another appearance in the series if they don’t end up having recurring roles from this point on. Even though this short arc hasn’t advanced the story much, I still had a good time watching it. I can only hope the rest of the series will be as entertaining, but with villains like Moon Face I can’t help but worry.

This is the first one-shot episode we’ve gotten. It’s also the first comedy-centered episode in the series. Being a humourous episode, it felt pretty different from what we’ve come accustomed to. It wasn’t my favourite episode, but it wasn’t bad either. I had a good time watching it. I still prefer their usual horror and mystery-filled episodes, but an episode like this one every once in a while wouldn’t hurt either. There was a decent amount of character development in this episode as well. It seems like there may be some sort of business sponsorship between Masako and Kazuya. At least that would explain Kazuya’s willingness to assist her. It’s only speculation at this point so we’ll have to wait and see what the truth is.

DEATH NOTE 11

Not surprisingly this was yet another solid episode that keeps you entertained all the way through. Lots of major developments in this episode. Without reading the manga it may be near impossible for people to predict all these twists in the series. This is also the first episode where we get to see Misa who is voiced by none other than Hirano Aya. Many people will recognize her as the seiyuu for Haruhi in “Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu” or Lumiere from “Kiddy Grade”. I liked Misa in the manga, so hopefully they will do her justice in the anime as well. Although I may just be needlessly worrying considering the level of quality the series has maintained thus far.

I found this to be an overall fun episode to watch. I didn’t find myself bored with any of the scenes considering all of this is just refreshing my memory. We learn more about Road, which really makes her seem evil even though her bloodline may not suggest it. Of course, the most critical part of this episode was all about Miranda and her Innocence. It’s definitely the perfect ability for their current situation. What is going to become of her should be no surprise to anyone if they pay attention to the opening of the series. It’s safe to say this episode was the climax of this arc so it should wrap up in the next episode or two. “D.Gray-man” is set to have 52 episodes so we still have a long way to go before the end.
