Ah! My Goddess Sorezore no Tsubasa 6

Could this episode be a sign that the series is going to get better from here on out? I’d love to believe that the rest of the episodes will get progressively better, but there’s no evidence that this will be a continuing trend. I found this episode to be pretty entertaining. We get to see Belldandy become jealous and realize her fear of losing Keiichi. If this was the real world it would make no sense at all considering how useless of a person Keiichi is. On top of seeing a whole other side of Belldandy, we’re also introduced to a new minor character. She wasn’t all that great in this episode, but she definately has potential to be quite entertaining. If she was paired up with Skuld they could come up with some good material.

To my surprise, I enjoyed this episode more than I had orginally anticipated. Seeing that the story wasn’t going to be about any of the main characters I didn’t have high expectations for this episode. Although this episode can be seen as a bit of character development for a minor character, whether or not the changes are long-term is still unclear. As far as the story goes, they could leave Satoko out of the rest of the series if they so desired. Overall I thought this was a fairly entertaining episode. It turned out better than some of the other episodes for this series. Looking at the preview, however, it looks like the next episode will be interesting enough to blow this episode out of the water.

As good as the premise appeared to be, the episode itself was only average relative to the previous three episodes. I felt that they had a lot to work with, but they didn’t take advantage of it. I must admit though, seeing Belldandy drunk was entertaining. Why she would get drunk from drinking a soft drink is beyond me though. Maara also makes her return in this episode. After seeing her show up I thought she would play a more prominent role in the episode. At this point I don’t expect to see any sort of continuous plot that spans over a few episodes. Hopefully towards the end of this season we will get an actual ongoing story like the previous season.

I thought Urd would have a bigger role in this episode based on the first few minutes. Since the second season started we haven’t seen much of Skuld or Urd. Things in the end looked as if they all worked out, but they left out the fact that they never resolved the issue with the little girl. The little girl was crying because her balloon got caught in the street light. Keiichi tried to get it back for her but ended up losing it in the end. They conveniently neglected to show us what happened with her afterwards. It’s not at all important to the story, but I just didn’t like them leaving it unresolved. Sayoko is in this episode briefly and we see that she has gotten over the events from the previous episode. It does seem like she’s not exactly the way she was in the first season. She actually shows a bit of compassion, even if it is almost completely drowned out by her pride.

I thought this episode was better than the previous one. I had almost forgotten that Keiichi wasn’t a very sharp individual. I kind of felt sorry for Sayoko for most of the episode because her feelings just kept getting stepped on. We got to see a side of Sayoko that we have not seen previous to this episode. For instance, it was made to appear at first that Sayoko had stolen the sweater. If it was the old Sayoko then she would have done it. Even though she did try to do her best in her own way she couldn’t throw away her pride. As great as it was to see this new side of her it looked like she was pretty much back to her old self by the end. I guess it was a good thing though since we are left knowing that she wasn’t too hurt by the whole situation.

The story begins pretty much right where we left off from the first season. Just like “ARIA The NATURAL”, besides having a new opening and ending song there really is no difference between the first season and this one. The animation quality along with the art appears the same as the first season. Based on the new opening song it seems like we will get a decent amount of plot development with the introduction of new characters. I wouldn’t say this is anywhere near one of the better series of the season, but it still provides a modest amount of entertainment. If you liked the first season then I see no reason why not to watch this one as well.

Ah! My Goddess 24 - Final

The ending was what everyone would expect it to be. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy watching the ending. There were some pretty nice scenes with Belldandy. We get to see a bit more of Lindo in this episode, but I wish we could have seen more of her. There wasn’t much of Uld in this episode either. Amazingly Skuld was less annoying than she normally is. It was nice to see both Keiichi and Belldandy do something about the way they feel for one another.

Overall it was a decent series. You wouldn’t be missing out on anything if you skipped it either though. The thing I liked most about this series is probably the art. They were pretty good at keeping the art consistent. There were also some episodes where Belldandy looked exceptional. I would probably only recommend watching it if you have nothing better to watch or if you are a huge Inoue Kikuo fan.

Gunlex: I didn’t think the conflict for this last part of the series would become something like this. Considering the rest of the series is fairly laid-back, this turn of events just doesn’t feel like your normal AMG episode. Nonetheless it was still entertaining. My only gripe with this episode is with the Flute of Midgar. It felt too simplistic as a solution. At least it wasn’t resolved in the end. It’s kind of too bad Uld is no longer evil. She had a nice outfit when she was evil.

Gunlex: We now enter the second to last plot line of the series. At least I think this will be since I don’t see this story lasting more than two episodes. More Uld and less Skuld in this episode. That’s always a good sign. I must say I like Uld’s new look. And it looks like Belldandy is going to get serious and bust out the big guns to bring Uld back.

Gunlex: This was primarily an episode about Uld. Belldandy was cute when she was a child. We’re told of the relation between Goddesses and Angels. We also find out about Uld and her Angel. From what we learn in this episode, everything about Uld makes more sense now.
