DEATH NOTE 1

I had set really high standards for this series. As long as they stuck with the manga’s story I had no doubt it would be good. The only thing that I was a little worried about was the art. The art for the manga was exceptionally well done so I wasn’t sure if the anime could match it. If the first episode is an example of what the rest of the episodes are going to be like, then I don’t have much to worry about. I was quite impressed with the quality of the art in the first episode. I have nothing but good things to say about the voice casting in this series. Miyano Mamoru fits Light really nicely. They used the same seiyuu for Ryuku in both the live action movie and the anime, which was definately the right choice in my opinion. Once again, to solve any issues with variations in the spelling of the characters’ names, I will stick with whatever they use on the official websites. Even though I’ve already finished the entire manga, I think this series will still be one of my favourites of the season.
