Ergo Proxy 6

One of the things that make this series so good is that we have no idea what each character is thinking and what they have planned. Although this series is still wrapped in mystery it still felt like we got a decent amount of development. Pino was cute as always. I thought it was interesting to see Pino learn about death and the feeling of loneliness. Through a series of short video clips we get to see what Rill was like in the past. She definately seemed like a cheerful girl. Now that Rill and Vincent have gone their separate ways once again I have no idea what is going to happen now. It feels like we won’t really start getting answers to the core questions until much later.

“Ergo Proxy” did not air last week so that is why there was no review for it last week. I swear Pino gets cuter by the episode. I hope she keeps that rabbit outfit on for the entire series because the things she says are just unbelievably cute. Speaking of Pino, we still don’t have any new information on the virus she’s infected with. Rill travels outside of the dome in search of Vincent. She doesn’t end up getting any real new information on the proxies. We do get more support in this episode that Vincent is quite possibly one of the proxies. Even though we don’t really get any new information in this episode, it was still highly entertaining. I do hope we get some more information in the next episode though so we can get a better idea as to what exactly is happening.

Vincent gets rescued and ends up sleeping for ten days. I thought his dream sequence had a sense of realism to it. The dream doesn’t stay in one setting. Similar to real dreams it looked quite random and it changed from location to location. We get a better look at the world outside the dome. Just as anticipated, it’s pretty run-down. I do wonder just how many people live there though. I’m glad Pino is in the series because she’s just so adorable. When she has her limbs covered up you can’t tell she’s an autoreiv. Rill discovers the corpse of a Proxy and ends up telling Dedalus its whereabouts. It seemed like Dedalus could be trusted because of him tampering with his two assistants. Once Dedalus sees the corpse firsthand his behaviour made me think maybe he shouldn’t be trusted afterall. That’s one of the things I really like about this series so far. You have no clue as to who you can or can’t trust. It’ll be interesting to see what Vincent will do next, as well as Rill.

This is the first time we get to see the opening for the series. I’m not absolutely sold on the opening song, but the animation seems fitting. We dive deeper into the conspiracy and we start to get more clues as to what is happening. Vincent is being chased by security without any idea of why, or so it seems. He claims to have no knoweldge of the Proxies even though the hints thus far point to the notion that he is deeply involved. Just like Vincent, Pino is being chased as well. For the time being we have no idea why she is really being chased. Does she have any connection to Vincent or the Proxies? An enormous amount of questions are still left unanswered and new questions arise after each episode. It definately keeps the suspense level high. We get a glimpse of the outside world at the end. Simply put, it doesn’t look like a pleasant place at all. Seeing Vincent with that evil-look at the very end makes me suspicious of his claim to innonence.

First thing I want to do is to clairfy the spelling of the main character’s name. Previously I used “Rilu”, but from now on I will be using “Rill”. As odd as that may look I’m using this new one because that is what’s listed on WOWOW’s website. As for this episode, I thought it was pretty crazy. RIll starts to realize that she was dragged into a conspiracy. We get bits of new information here and there, but for now there just aren’t enough pieces to string it all together. The massacre in this episode took me by surprise for various reasons. Something that sort of bugged me was the fact that nobody reacted to the bodies being flung left and right. You’d think people would notice the screams and react accordingly. Nevertheless, that scene was still kind of insane. Rill returns home and finds definitive proof that what happened the night before was all reality. For the time being we still aren’t sure what exactly is happening. If they can continue feeding us with information bit by bit and keep up with the current level of excitement and suspense, I shouldn’t have any major issues with this series.

Ever since they aired the first episode as a “screener” I’ve been contemplating whether or not to review it now or until the official air date on the 25th. I couldn’t resist waiting so I decided to watch it first. The hype for this series is well-warranted. I’ve been waiting for this series since last year and I’m glad to say it was worth the wait. The animation quality is unbelievable. The only series that you can really compare the quality to is the “Ghost in the Shell: SAC” series. Besides the stunning animation, the story is already off to an interesting start. We don’t know exactly what’s going on yet, but bit by bit the mystery will definately be unraveled. There hasn’t been that much information on the lead character Rilu yet. From what they show in episode one though, she seems pretty intriguing. The opening and ending song animations weren’t in the screener so we will have to wait until the official start of the series to see it. It seems to be an interesting choice to use Radiohead’s “Paranoid Android” for their opening song. Normally an anime series would use something newer or specifically made for the series. One thing they need to do is fix up some of the typos in the series when Geneon USA releases the DVD’s in North America. I can’t wait to watch the second episode. Unfortunately we’ll have to wait until March 4th for another dose of “Ergo Proxy”.
