Eureka 7 40

A new opening and ending song starts in this episode. These will likely be the last opening and ending songs we get, unless they do a special opening and/or ending song for the last episode. Once again I didn’t find the opening song to be all that great. The first 5 seconds made the song sound intense, but after that point it went downhill. The ending song was more tolerable than the new opening song. The best thing in the new opening is we get to see Eureka with her new hair style. The fate of the world rests on Eureka and Renton. The mission to get them to Sakuya commenced in this episode. As soon as we saw Maurice, Maeter, and Linck eyeing Nirvash we knew the mission wouldn’t go smoothly. We are left with more questions than answers by the time the episode ends. With the new opening song and the events in this episode, it really feels like the beginning of the end. Eureka has her new hair style in the preview for the next episode so I’m looking forward to seeing that.

I didn’t think we’d get another filler episode at this point in the series. I must say that I really enjoyed this episode though. It’s probably one of the most hilarious episodes of the series so far. It was hysterical to watch the crew play soccer. One of the best parts of the episode was when Renton wasn’t able to pass the ball because he had only played soccer by himself before. There were quite a few other pretty hilarious scenes in this episode. If they could have given us more episodes like this earlier on it would have been nice. It seems a bit too late in the series to have anymore filler episodes. Well, they could fit 1 maybe 2 more filler episodes in the series without hindering the story.

This episode didn’t play out the way I had expected it to, but I thought it was a pretty awesome episode. The first half was hilarious because half the crew misunderstood the situation between Renton and Eureka. I thought we would get to hear all about Renton’s father in this episode. Eureka’s flashback of Adlock Thurston was pretty short. We do get an idea of what kind of person he was though based purely on what Eureka told Renton. I really liked the scene where Renton realized the truth behind his father’s actions during the “Summer of Love”. The scene where Renton and Eureka give Stoner permission to use the photo in “Ray=Out” was good too. It’ll probably be a strong factor in stopping the crisis.

We got some new information in this episode. It was quite a bit to take in. Now we know why Holland and crew need to stop Dewey. Dewey now has a lot of support from people because of his propaganda. Who would have thought Anemone would become the people’s hope. In terms of intensity there wasn’t much of that in this episode. Of course, it’s always nice to get more information so we can get more enjoyment out of the series. It looks like we’ll get to learn about Renton’s father in the next episode.

We finally learned about Renton’s sister Diane in this episode. Holland does tell us that Diane just disappeared, so we’ll probably see her late in the series. It was kind of disturbing to see how Diane turned out before her disappearance. Eureka learns about the make-up in this episode. I thought that whole incident was pretty hilarious. When Eureka showed up looking like a clown I couldn’t help but laugh. Jokes aside, it’s nice to see that bit by bit Eureka’s becoming more and more human. She definately gets some points for trying so hard for Renton.

I thought it was a little unexpected, but as it turns out Dewey is Holland’s older brother. Talho used to be with Dewey as well, which I thought was kind of surprising. The person who leaked information to Talho was caught and looked to be in pretty bad shape. I don’t think we’ll be seeing him anymore. They have been pretty good at providing entertaining episodes for a while now, so I have some confidence that the next episode will follow the same trend. Although I definately would’nt mind seeing more encounters between Anemone and Eureka.

In an earlier episode we got to see a bit of Holland and Eureka’s past. Some scenes are the same but there’s a lot more in it this time. We get to see Eureka and Holland’s first meeting and how Holland met Norubu. It seems like Norubu will play a fairly significant role. There was also a bit of unexpected development in this episode. Talho is apparently pregnant now. It probably won’t be of any further importance until possibly the epilogue of the series.

One can take a look at this episode as a turning point for the series. The crew gets disbanded by Holland since he wants to fulfill his own motive, but we all know none of the crew members chose to leave. Although this wasn’t anywhere near as exhilarating as last week’s episode, it was still good in its own way. They tied up a few loose ends so we can now move onto what will probably be the main plot of the series. Oh, one other interesting thing of note is we find out in this episode a rough estimate of what year the series takes place in. I wasn’t expecting it to be the year 12000 or so.

I was pretty much blown away by this episode. This is easily one of the top 3 episodes of the series so far. The edge-of-your-seat suspense when Axel Thurston was escaping with the board was pretty intense. They top that scene by pitting together typetheEND and the newly upgraded typeZERO (irregular spelling taken from the official website). The way they put in “Days” into that scene was just awesome. I definately like the new typeZERO, except I still wish it had a different colour scheme. I don’t expect the next episode to have the same level of intensity, but chances are it will still be fun to watch.

The events in this episode took me by surprise. I would have expected something of this calibur towards the end of the series, but we’re still far from the finale. We get a couple of questions answered, but due to the turn of events we have new questions to answer now. It looks like Nirvash will be upgraded, but it’s too bad it has the same colour scheme as before. A couple of new characters are introduced in this episode. The creepy kids we meet will probably play a fairly large role in the episodes to come.
