Gokujou Seitokai 26 (Final)

September 28th, 2005 by Gunlex

It seems like only yesterday when I watched the first episode with some skepticism about a series I had heard nothing about previously. Now I’m sad to see that this awesome series has ended. We begin the final episode with an alternate ending to the previous episode thanks to Minamo. I must admit I found that scene highly entertaining. We also get to hear from Pucchan himself his real identity. I thought that was kind of unexpected, but things all worked out that way. I liked how they reintroduced all the main characters again at the very end. It was a nice way to wrap up the series. Overall, I’m pretty satisfied with how things turned out. It’s just too bad we won’t get to see anymore of their hilarious adventures.

This series is 26 episodes of hilarity and fun. All the characters are likeable except Minamo. Lucky for us she doesn’t show up early on in the series. The character designs may not be the best ever, but it has its own appeal. My biggest complaint about this series is it was too short. I wish this was a 52 episodes series instead. I’m going to miss the laughter this series so kindly provided. If you want some good laughs and an easy-to-watch series, “Gokujou Seitokai” is the series for you.

They pulled out all the stops in this episode. We pretty much see every character we’ve seen up to this point in the series. I thought the scene with the landlord kicking ass was pretty funny. There’s a decent amount of new information in this episode as well. It turns out that Seina and Minamo are Jinguji people as well. They were forced to change their surnames due to not having any powers. We also find out what Kanade’s power is. Rino’s power also awakens in this episode. Apparently Rino’s power is stronger than Kanade’s, proven by her ability to draw people to her. The time has finally come, we’re down to one more episode.

Kanade watching Rino sleep during the storm makes her look like a murderer. I was looking forward to see the characters take part in the different sports activities. All of that got scrapped when Kanade made her surprised announcement. Kanade withdraws from school after the passing of her grandfather. Since none of the other student council members can accept her leaving, they all decide to go to her residence to bring her back. It has officially been confirmed that Rino is indeed related to Kanade. We probably won’t get to see what Rino’s power is until the end of the next episode or sometime in the final episode. I look forward to the last two episodes and hope for a good ending that this series so deserves.

I was expecting to learn a decent amount of information about the landlord. Instead what we do learn is pretty minimal. Although there wasn’t as much new info about her as I had hoped, it was still a fun episode to watch. Seeing Sayuri and Minamo’s ideas about the “landlord’s magic staff” was quite entertaining. I would have thought Sayuri’s idea would come from Rein instead. It looked like the landlord would have had some big secret when even Kotoha and Ayu couldn’t keep up with her. I was a bit disappointed in that sense. In the end things worked out nicely so it’s all good.

This was kind of an….odd episode. Simply put, combine Yu-Gi-Oh with Gokujou Seitokai and you have episode 22 of Gokujou Seitokai. We do learn one piece of information though. Although it’s not a crucial piece of information we do learn where the student council get the money to pay for everything. Even though this was pretty much the weirdest episode thus far, I still thought it was fun to watch. Seina was cute with her “nanchatte” in this episode so that deserves some bonus points.

This week is Rein’s turn in the spotlight. I was actually expecting more scenes with Rein than they showed, but it still turned out nicely. For someone who always seems to be happy, her past was kind of a surprise. They added a nice twist to the end of the episode. It seems Rino’s powers are awakening. It’s a reminder that the series is coming to an end in the near future. To be exact, there’re only 5 more episodes to go. I’m going to be sorry to see this series end. Oh, one last note. The baby in this episode was extremely cute. If you didn’t think that as well then you are nothing more than a cold-hearted bastard. Have a nice day.

Just as expected, this episode wasn’t as good as last week’s. Then again, it’s hard to beat the quality of last week’s episode. This week’s episode by itself was a pretty decent one. We finally get to learn all about Ayu. I can’t say I suspected her as being the second Onmitsu after we found out about Kotoha. I think it’s a good thing they let her have a more important role in the story. She hasn’t been in the series much up to this point. I thought the art was particularly good in certain parts of this episode. They must have spent extra time on Ayu in this one as well since she seems to look pertty good in all her scenes.

Wow, this episode was unexpected. I have to say this is probably my favourite episode for the series thus far. There was quite of lot of development in this episode. Lance was right, Kaori looks better with her hair down. So as it turns out, Rino’s mother was from the Jinguji family. I guess that means Rino is related to Kanade. Since it was Rino’s mother that gave Lance life, I wonder if it was her responsible for Bucchan’s as well. It’s likely that his time may run out too just like Lance’s. Apparently there’s more to Seina than previously suspected. She seems to know about the whole situation with Rino’s mother. Hopefully next week’s episode will also keep up with the story development.

It was about time we got an episode about Yukimi and Wakana. Although this ended up pretty much as a Wakana episode. Either way it was nice to learn more about the two of them. Since Wakana is supposed to be such a great surgeon, I wonder if we’ll see how Kanade convinced her to work for her (ie. not purely for the money factor). The appearance of the seitokai was minimal in this episode. I liked how Wakana was mad at Yukimi in the beginning and how they switched roles at the end. There’s no denying it was a nice change to learn more about the teachers.

Lots of Engrish in this episode. It was well worth reading the letter from Cyndi’s mother. “Solly”. Her mother’s Japanese was hilarious as well. “食えるか!”. I thought there were a lot of good scenes in this episode. Seeing them all trying to make Cyndi’s lies a reality was pretty funny. It was nice to see Kuon in a maid outfit, unfortunately those scenes were limited. The conversation between Rein and Sayuri during the hula dance was gold, especially the arrow pointing to the source of Rein’s complaint. I thoroughly enjoyed the humour in this episode.
