Gun x Sword 26 (Final)

Van finally managed to get his revenge. Normally the characters would end up realizing or be told that revenge does not solve anything. However, this is one case where revenge did solve the problem. While everyone is celebrating, Van leaves the others without a word. At this point I would have thought Wendy would have followed Van, but determined to live her own life she turns the other way. The scene changes to the “present” where we see Wendy finish telling the entire story to a writer. She explains to him that was the last time she saw Van. Then Van like his usual self walks into Wendy’s house asking for food and milk. They see each other and both of them have a hilarious look on their faces. I thought ending the series that way was awesome.

This was a pretty decent series in my opinion. The art was clean and they had good character designs. The story is far from original, but it was still fun to watch. I even thought they had good filler episodes. The series leaned more towards the series side of things, but they had good humour as well to lighten up the mood. I wasn’t too fond of the music overall. I thought there were only a few decent tracks. This series has many similarities to “Trigun” so if you liked that series, this may be something to look into.

Near the beginning of this episode we get to see Joshua become furious for the first time. It was so unlike him that it looked almost comical. I wasn’t expecting to see Van show up until the end of the episode but we see him return around the half-way point. His final confrontation with Michael was pretty short, but I thought it was a cool scene. I didn’t think we would get to see Eldora V and Pricilla back in action. Seeing Carlos speak all of a sudden and showing his disappointment in the other guys was quite hilarious. The episode ends with Wendy pointing her gun at Michael. She has definately changed over the course of the series.

The world is now on the brink of destruction. This was also Ray’s last appearance. It was bound to happen, but Ray managed to die without any real regrets. I thought the last encounter between Ray and Fasalina was pretty cool. Ray using the cape to deflect the beam was intense. With everyone else unable to fight, it’s up to Van to finish the job. Van wasn’t in this episode at all. My guess is we’ll get to see him again towards the end of the next episode.

There are many familiar faces in this episode. Most of them were very brief but we begin to see the changes happening to Endless Illusion due to the moon heading for the planet. Van manages to repair DANN and himself using Gadobedo’s satellite. I thought Van thanking Michael for blowing up the satellite was pretty funny. Now that the planet is about to collide with the moon, I wonder what they’re going to do to stop it. It was too bad Van’s fight against Michael was so short, but there’s a chance we’ll see more of it within the last 3 episodes.

Well this episode was quite interesting. As it turns out practically nobody knew what or where “space” is. Then it only takes them a week to learn how to launch DANN into space. That scene brought up nightmares from the worst movie, “Battlefield Earth”. Besides how silly I thought that scene was there was one scene I particularly liked. When Pricilla asked Van what a virgin was, the reaction from Van was pretty hilarious. They ended the episode with Michael encountering something unexpected from the other side of the moon.

Things are now moving along nicely. Michael is headed towards the moon, but we don’t know exactly how that plays into the clawed-man’s plans. The series would have ended at this episode if it wasn’t for Eldora V trying to “save” Van. Fasalina is what I call a “hentai-yarou”. Well I guess some people are into that whole sadism stuff. Anyways, since she got away it’s most likely she’s going to cause more trouble for Van later on.

Things are heading towards the climax of the series. With only two of the “Original Seven” left the last few episodes should be action-packed. I found Joshua to be quite hilarious when he was talking to Pricilla. He seems to have no common sense whatsoever. This is just a guess, but I’m thinking Wendy will be the key to Van beating Michael. There are 6 more episodes to go, so hopefully they’ll keep the tension up until the end.

The beginning of this episode was pretty funny. Pricilla and Wendy’s feelings for Van are now quite clear. This should make the ending that much more interesting. I swear the mecha design for Eldora V was by Okawara Kunio. It’s probably listed in the credits but I’m too lazy to check. There are just too many similarities between Eldora V and many of the robots from the Yuusha series. So anyways, 2 more of the “Original 7″ get taken down in this episode. It was bound to happen, but it was still kind of sad to see two young kids die just because of their fear of abandonment.

This was a pretty big episode. We finally learn the truth behind the clawed-man’s plans. We also get to see Michael’s Sauder in action. It definately lives up to its description of being different. It’s unlike the other yoroi’s we’ve seen up to this point. At one point it looked like Michael may have change his mind about the clawed-man, but he ends up throwing that thought out. It’ll be interesting to see if he will betray the clawed-man towards the end of the series.

This episode is probably as close to a fan service episode as we’ll get for the series. I thought there were some pretty funny moments in this episode. Two instances that come to mind. One of them is when Joshua runs towards Van and Wendy, Van randomly knees him in the stomach. The other scene was using the yoroi arrival BGM and its “transformation” sound effect for Wendy’s turtle. The censorship donkey was funny the first time, but after a while it just become a distraction. Although this is pretty much nothing but a filler episode, it was nice to see all the characters finally meet up.
