Honey and Clover 14

We got our first Mayama episode this week. It was an interesting change to see the episode focus on him instead of the usual. We get to see him at work and how his co-workers like to tease him. We learn that Rika’s late husband was an inspiration to Mayama’s co-workers. It appears that Mayama is really protective of Ayu. Whether or not it’s because he thinks of her as a good friend or has some feelings for her but doesn’t realize it yet, that’s still up in the air. Although I’d probably think the former for the time being.

This episode focuses more on Ayu and her thoughts. Although we still get to hear Takemoto’s thoughts in this episode, it was nice to hear what Ayu was thinking. Without a doubt the funniest part of the episode was the entire kimono scene. Especially when the lady told Hagu she didn’t have to do the wrapping like Ayu does. So it turns out Ayu hasn’t given up on trying to let go of her feelings for Mayama. You kind of have to feel sorry for Ayu.

Morita the enka star! This guy is just full of hidden talents. I guess it’s now certain that Morita likes Hagu as well. But now that Morita is overseas, I wonder what will happen with Hagu. Although we don’t know how long he will be gone for, I don’t think it’ll be more than 2 episodes. I thought Hanamoto-sensei and Takemoto’s conversation about “Sleeping Beauty” was the funniest part of the whole episode. We learn that the guy who always comes to offer Morita odd jobs is his brother. I thought it was pretty clever of them to give him a similar personality. The taxi gag at the end was totally unexpected. I’m amazed at how they can keep up with this level of performance.

Gunlex: Welcome back Hanamoto-sensei. Lots of hilarious scenes in this episode. Although a big part it focuses on Hanamoto-sensei’s return, we also get to see Hagu trying to sort out her feelings for Morita. I don’t have much else to add to this episode. It’s just like all the other episodes of the series thus far; a seemless mixture of comedy and drama.

Gunlex: Yet another classic “Honey and Clover” episode. When things start looking serious, they throw in humor to lighten things up. So what exactly happened between Ayumi and Mayama on the ferris wheel? We may not ever know for sure or they may show us what happened in the next episode. So far we know that Takemoto likes Hagu and Hagu probably likes Morita. At this point we can only speculate how Morita feels about Hagu. One scenario is he doesn’t feel the same way about Hagu. The other scenario is he has feelings for Hagu, but he also knows Takemoto does as well. Being the most sensitive character in the series he may just not show any interest in Hagu for Takemoto’s sake.

Gunlex: Honey and Clover simply doesn’t disappoint. They’re always able to pull off a mixture of humor and drama pretty much flawlessly. This episode is no exception either. With time moving so quickly in the series, I wonder how long it will last though. Morita is probably the most sensitive character in the series. He lightens the mood and says just the right things to turn things around. Things are starting to change in the series, I look foward to seeing what’s to come.

Gunlex: I’ve been waiting all week for a new episode of Honey and Clover. This episode totally lived up to my expectations of this series as well. It has its comedic situations, as well as a serious side. The Twister game of death was a riot. Lots of good parts in this episode, really have nothing to complain about except it was too short. They used a piano version of “Waltz” in this episode. I hope it will be on the OST.

Gunlex: Another ‘feel-good’ episode. We get to see a bit of Hagu’s past. Poor Hagu, had to go through so much in the past. I thought the clover scene was really well done. Unlike many of the other series this season, we get to see development in every episode.

Gunlex: It was hilarious to see Hagu and Ayumi try to feed the giraffe. But once Hanamoto and Mayama started talking about Rika the whole episode’s mood just turned on its head. I would have liked to see more of Rika since she’s so awesome. The end of the episode was very well done. A really good episode overall.

Gunlex: In the first half of this episode we learn about Takemoto’s background. I enjoyed seeing how he began to accept Kazu-san. Of course no episode would be complete without Hagu-chan and Morita. Luckily we’re rewarded with some good Hagu-chan and Morita scenes in the second half.
