Hazumu learned how to be a girl in this episode. As it so happens he had a lot to learn; from walking up the stairs to putting on a bra. At first I thought the series would take a more serious approach, but I found this episode to be hilarious. Some may find Hazumu’s father to be kind of “disturbed”, but I thought he was funny. At the end of the episode we see two aliens in Hazumu’s room. Right now I have no clue what the aliens’ intentions are. I’m enjoying this series so far so I look forward to next week’s episode.

The title of the series is “Kashimashi” phonetically, but I opted to use the official spelling instead. This was one of the series I was looking forward to based purely on the title and the website’s main page. I guess I should have read the story before watching the first episode so I would have been prepared for this somewhat odd premise. The beginning of the episode was going well with some yuri right off the bat. Then the scene shifts and we see something that appears completely different from the first scene of the episode. We see a guy, Hazumu, and the resulting events of his failed confession to the girl he likes. This may all seem like a conventional story up to this point, but then an alien ship with mechanical problems accidentally kills Hazumu. The aliens resurrect Hazumu as a girl. This last scene ends the first episode, but as weird as it sounds it clears up the issue with the first scene being completely out of place. I thought this first episode was a lot of fun to watch, even though the whole extraterrestrial presence was kind of weird. For me, this is one of the better series of this new season.
