Shakugan no SHANA 4

There wasn’t much development until the end of the episode when we get to see Shana fight another Flamehaze. It was quite entertaining to see Shana become flustered and embarassed considering her personality. From the opening we can already see Shana is going to fall for Yuuji, it’s just a question of when. That should be interesting to say the least. Kazumi must have some important role in the series, but I wonder what it will be.

Things are starting to come together now. It looks like Yuuji will start changing how Shana sees the world. This is the first time Shana meets Friagne, Marianne’s master. According to him Shana doesn’t know how to use her powers properly yet. It was only a glimpse, but we get an idea of what’s hidden inside Yuuji. We see 2 more people show up at the end of the episode, one of them being another Flamehaze. The pace of the story is moving nicely in my opinion.

We get a few explanations in this episode so things are starting to make some sense. Basically in time, Yuuji will disappear just like Yukari did. It makes me wonder if they will find a way to prevent that from happening. There wasn’t any fighting in this episode. This was pretty much an explanation episode, learn a bit about Shana, and to let everything from the first episode sink in. As long as they keep up what they’re doing I think I’ll really enjoy this series.

This wasn’t one of the series I had my eye on for the new season. After watching the first episode I must say I like what I see. We don’t know of an actual plot yet, but the concept seems pretty interesting. I like both the opening and ending songs for this series. That’s always a good start for a potential winner. At first glance people may be reminded of a popular series like Bleach, but I think this series has its own unique flavour. At the moment things are still a complete mystery so we don’t really know what’s going on yet. If they can keep my interest up like it did in this episode then I look forward to seeing all 26 episodes. This may be one of the few “must see” series of the season.
