SoltyRei 24 (Final)

All the questions left from the very beginning are answered in this episode. I was expecting a good ending for the series, but I never expected it to be this good. It was fun to see Roy and the others five years later. Interestingly Roy and Miranda did not age at all. I would have liked to see what the other people were up to as well, but we got to see Rose which was who I wanted to see the most. If you’re looking for an emotional ending then you won’t be disappointed. If they had just ended it at the scene right before the ending credits came up, I would have still thought it was a good ending. When they showed us the extra scene after the credit, that blew me away. I thought that scene was done flawlessly. There is no question that final scene was the most emotional one of the entire series. Often the ending of a series will either make or break the series. In case of “SoltyRei” this ending made the series even better. After watching that I really want to see more of this series. Chances are this really is the end of “SoltyRei”, but that’s also fine as well since the ending was so great.

For a series of this length it is expected that not every episode will be fantastic. Although not every episode ended up being unbelievable, in general the episodes were good. I pretty much liked every character in this series. They did a great job with Solty, I thought she was extremely loveable. The voice casting was really well done as well. They fit the characters like a glove. The music wasn’t too shabby either. There were some pretty memorable BGM’s throughout the series. Before the final episode the series was already good. With such an intense ending it made this series a must watch in my opinion. So if you haven’t started this series yet, I implore you to watch this series.

I found this episode to be pretty interesting because of how they made it feel like this was the finale. If they had left the final minute out it really could have just ended there. A decent portion of this episode was spent on revealing Ashley’s past considering this was the second to last episode. I can’t say I don’t understand where Ashley’s insanity comes from. Waiting 200 years to see your loved one would make anyone go crazy. I thought the scene where Rose and Solty both call Roy, “Papa” was hilarious. I wouldn’t have thought they would put in a scene like that in this episode. It’s not everyday you get to see someone like Roy blush. I can only hope that Solty will make it through the series. Knowing her, she would selflessly sacrifice herself for the people she loves.

We’re finally told why Rose decided to cooperate with Ashley. It’s good to see that Integra is still alive, but now it seems Accela may not survive. She was right in the middle of the explosion so I’m not sure how she will make it out of that situation alive. We are already getting hints that Rose’s dream will come true by the end of the series. The scene I probably enjoyed most in this episode was when Solty was convincing Rose to return. It wasn’t anything mind-blowing, but it was just the most entertaining scene for me. At the end of the episode we see Ashley attack Andy and Roy. Most likely Solty will end up stopping Ashley at some point since it seems highly unlikely Roy can stop him.

This episode provides more information on the truth behind the planet they’re living on. Joseph’s claims do make a lot of sense since it fits in with the infrastructure we’ve been exposed to so far. We also find out what Ashley plans on doing and we see the beginning of his plan in action. At first it did sound like he had good intentions, but the consequences are just not acceptable. There were unexpected plot twists in this episode as well. I would never have thought Accela would end up in a situation like that. Seeing her go beserk was the last thing I would have pictured. So now they have to stop both Ashley and Accela. With 3 more episodes left, there should be plenty of time to resolve all the issues and finish the series nicely. The last 3 episodes are going to air back to back next week.

Rose ends up letting Miranda know that they are being watched. Now I’m not too sure what Rose has planned. At one point I thought she was going to try to bring down the R.U.C from within, but some of her other actions made me question that theory. With this recent development I think that theory is once again a possibility. It’s been so long since we first met Solty that I had completely forgotten she had an unknown past before she met Roy. Now we know what her original name was after Ashely finds her. Hopefully she will be able to regain her memories in the next episode. Thanks to Joseph we get a lot more information regarding their world. It fills in some of the holes we’ve had since the early part of the series. There’s a slight chance Integra will live through this ordeal. For now it seems kind of slim, but she’s probably still alive for the time being since she is going to be used as bait. Accela looked like she was taking matters into her own hands at the end of the episode. She probably won’t die because quite frankly, killing all four R.U.C members we’ve come to know would be pretty stupid. Now I can’t wait for the next episode.

It’s good to see that Integra is alive and well. I just hope she stays that way. It was pretty cool to see everyone gathered together in the same room. I could have never imagined all of these individuals from polar opposite ends of society to come together. I thought we would have seen the last of Celica from the previous episode, but they had to throw in a video message she left behind. It was a pretty emotional scene, particularly when Celica asked Accela to clean her sister’s grave if something were to happen to her. After watching that scene I thought it was kind of unfortunate we didn’t get to know the R.U.C members better. We now know the masked-guy’s name is Ashley Dinks. It sounds kind of familiar so it may have been mentioned in an earlier episode and I just missed it. We’re beginning to get a glimpse of what he has planned, but we still don’t know enough to know what’s really going on. Although Joseph appears to know what Ashley is up to. Unfortunately he doesn’t specify what it is on the answering machine so we’ll just have to wait and see.

A lot of things happened in this episode so it took a while for it to all sink in. Another R.U.C member is killed in this episode. I guess out of the remaining three Celica was the one most likely to fall victim next. We don’t know who was the one that shot Celica is though. All we know is the person appears to be a heavy smoker. With the way things are going I think Integra won’t survive until the end of the series. Accela is probably the only remaining R.U.C member that will survive. We also got some stuff clarifed with Rose. It looks like she never died in the first place and it was all staged according to R.U.C’s plans. Only way I can accept it is if they had the ’substitute’ surgically altered to look like Rose so Roy could declare that the deceased was indeed Rose. It looked like Rose was loyal to R.U.C in the previous episode, but now I’m having second thoughts based on her actions in this episode. Roy and Solty managed to make it up onto the rooftop in time to see Rose witness Celica’s final moment as the episode ended. Talk about a way to end an episode.

One of the main things I wanted to see in this episode was how Rose had changed. Her personality seems the same as before, but for the moment she seems completely loyal to the R.U.C. Some pretty unexpected things happened in this episode. As soon as Rose was introduced as the new superior to Integra and the others it was obvious there was going to be trouble. I didn’t expect Silvia to be killed off so suddenly. Something wasn’t right about “Kamen no Otoko” (I don’t recall them ever mentioning his name so I’m going by what’s listed in the credits) from the beginning, but now we can really see he’s quite disturbed. On a more pleasant note, Solty made it back home. She may have missed Roy, but Kasha, Miranda, and the hentai Yuto were there to welcome her home. A few signs are popping up now that may suggest Solty may not make it through to the end of the series. I really hope I misinterpreted these signs.

Roy heads out to look for Solty and it looks like he’s on the right track. He may end up finding her in the next episode. Will’s death took some time for it to sink in for Solty. Even though Will wasn’t such a well-developed character due to his short appearance, I thought Solty’s scene with the late Will was good. At the end of the episode we see that Rose is now part of the R.U.C and ranked higher than Integra and the others. I wonder what Rose is like now. Chances are she’s completely different from before. I look forward to seeing her meet up with either Solty or Roy since it definately should spark some good drama.

Solty ends up wandering around in a desert where she collapses. There she meets an old man and a boy named Will. We only met them, but Will dies at the end of the episode. This new traumatic event will probably takes it toll on Solty. When we see Roy in this episode he’s a total wreck. Luckily, Miranda was able to beat some sense into him. I totally wasn’t expecting Miranda to physically beat Roy like that. The scene between the two was probably my favourite part of this episode. Roy is most likely going to go look for Solty now using the lead they got. We get to see a glimpse of Rose in this episode. It appears she’s “alive” for the time being thanks to the R.U.C and its program. Once she meets Roy things are going to get interesting.
