Speed Grapher 24 (Final)

There may have been a possible Easter egg in this episode. In the very beginning when you see the missile heading towards the building, there’s a logo on the missle that looks like the Gonzo mark. I thought the ending was pretty decent. It didn’t blow my expectations out of the water or anything. I was happy to see things worked out for the main characters for the most part. Saiga may be permanetly blind now but he still seems to be doing well. The best part of the episode in my opinion is the final scene with Kagura coming back to Saiga. It may not be anywhere near original but it was a nice way to conclude this series.

I’ll be blunt, this isn’t a series for everyone. Some may love it, some may hate it. Personally, I felt it was worth the time I put into watching this series. It’s no where near the best series of the year for me, but it was still entertaining overall. The characters were probably of average quality. None of them were really all that memorable in my opinion. One of the problems I had with this series was the story felt like it moved way too slowly. Sometimes you may watch it and feel like it’s going no where. Besides the pacing, the premise of the story itself was fairly unique. Blend together politics, corruption, action and a twist of revenge and you get “Speed Grapher”.

After watching this episode, I can’t blame Suitengu for what he wants to do. You can’t help but sympathize with him. Getting sold and thrown into a war was bad enough, but having to see his sister in that state? That would have been too much for anyone. Even though he doesn’t really seem like the “bad guy” anymore, he’s still going to have to die in the end for Kagura to return to Saiga.

I was a little bit disappointed in this episode. I didn’t find this week’s episode to be all that fun to watch. Ginza’s superior is sick. Cutting off and displaying his wife and his daughters legs. We do get a taste of just how high corruption reaches. It looks like Saiga’s the only one who is capable of ending this mess. It turns out the person who got rid of the hentai doctor was Jabba the Hutt. We learn theat there may be a cure for Kagura. Will she be able to get the treatment and survive? I think chances are that will happen.

Saiga’s eyesight is nearing its limit. So as it turns out the traitor wasn’t working for Suitengu at all. Some things are getting quite confusing now. Mainly what significance does the guy Ginza went to see have. That whole last scene seemed pretty random to me. Things are heading towards the climax but we still have a lot of unanswered questions.

I thought this was going to be a pretty slow episode based on last week’s episode. It was slow-paced for the first half, but luckily things turned around towards the end. I wasn’t expecting a twist in the plot. If they were going to reveal the Judas in the group I would have thought they would leave it for a later episode. From the looks of it, the next episode will be pretty exciting. Kagura is captured once again. This is like the third time she got captured. It’s starting to get old.

Overall this wasn’t a very intense episode. They make up for the lack of intensity by having a decent amount of plot development. So after all this time it looks like Saiga may stop running from Suitengu and go on the offensive now that he has help. The way they portrayed the professor made him look evil. It makes you wonder if he has some other motive or if he’s working for Suitengu. Now that Kagura knows about her condition all thanks to the suspicious professor, it’ll be interesting to see how she will react to it.

The entire episode is pretty much nothing but flashbacks of Suitengu’s past. I would’ve liked them to continue on with the story, but I guess this episode was a necessity. We learn all about Suitengu’s past from childhood up to how he ended up joining the Tennouzu group. After seeing this episode I can’t blame Suitengu for becoming the person he is today. I found a couple of scenes to be “not so pleasant”. Although it was because of unpleasantness it gave this episode a bigger impact.

I was pretty disappointed in this episode. It has been a few weeks since the previous episode aired. Most of this episode is taken up by a “recap” through the accountant tallying up all the money used and obtained. There were very few new scenes so finding decent screencaps to take proved to be quite difficult. We do get some new information though. It seems like Saiga became a carrier during the war and it was Suitengu who saved his life. That twist in the end was unexpected, but in a good way.

Do-do do do-do do do do do~ Under the sea! Anyways, we get a “Little Mermaid” episode this time. Kagura and Saiga are on the run again with a fish trying to stop them this time. Saiga wants to make the best of the little time Kagura has left to live. It seems like they’re able to talk to each other more openly now. This wasn’t a bad episode or anything, it just lacked the intensity the last few episode had.

Saiga realizes how he feels about Kagura in this episode. He’s going to get his ass kicked by Ginza. Operation: Retrieve Kagura looked like it was a success until the very last moment. An episode of this calibur makes it seem like it’s already close to the climax of the series. This was pretty much only the half-way point of the series though.
